Raising Roses / Intersectional resilience

Due to gender-based violence, girls and women have been forced to stay at home long before this pandemic. My mother often mentions how she was only permitted to go as far as the balcony.

These poems, inspired by her stories, depicts how intra-generational resilience manifests itself through time and space. These poems should remind me and future generations that civilisations of strong and resilient women have paved the way for our freedom. They also remind us that there are still women and girls fighting the infection of misogyny - the violent patriarchal pandemic long forgotten.
